Thank you, Jay! I had asked about these but received no response. Hopefully, they will incorporate their explanations into the Help file in the next release.
One question I had was where someone falls who was born in 2000? The ranges are 1900-1999 and after 2000. Again, thank you! --Paula in Texas Researching: Adair Baker Beasley Benson Betz Bigley Blagrave Burton Chapman Clement Clough Coppernoll Costine Daulton Dinwiddie Doody Ellis Exline Field Floran Floyd Gates Goodale Gordon Gump Hale Harbaugh Hind Hopkins Hughes Hurdle Jones Klein Koyle Laswell McDonald Misner Passwaters Pelton Roberts Roche Ryburn Sanford Short Singer Sullivan Weller Williams ________________________________ From: Jay 1FamilyTree <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Saturday, May 10, 2014 4:06 PM Subject: [LegacyUG] How statistics are calculated. Recently, I received a reply to my questions on how the statistics were calculated, and I thought I would share that info, as it helped me with a better understanding on how the numbers are developed. I have also submitted a suggested improvement to have these added to the HELP files. I hope this will help others understand how the Statistics in Legacy 8 are developed; Does the person need to have BOTH Birth and death dates to be part of the calculation? For longest living and lifespan YES. For Births by Era NO. If someone is born after 1900 and has no death date are they included in the statistics? Same as above. You can't calculate lifespan without a death date. The Births by Era still works. IF persons that are included have both birth and death dates, do they need to be exact dates (1/1/1900 - 12/31/1950) or are the bef, bet, aft, abt and cir dates also used as part of the statistics? The dates do not have to be exact BUT if you have Abt 1790 then the program will use 1790. If you have Aft1790, the program will still use 1790. If you have Bef 1790 then the program is still going to use 1790. So, if you have someone that was born Bef 1790 and died Aft 1820 they will show as age 30 when they died. If someone is born 1/2/1898 and dies on 5/10/1989 are they included in the 1800-1899 stats or the 1900-1999 stats? He would appear in the 1800-1899 stats.
