Pat, So sorry to hear of your dilemma!  Like, Cathy, I only use the 3-dash
button when adding a new person... saves just a few clicks.  I have on occasion
used it in error, so I know what you're going through.  I think it was Cathy
who suggested you use a tag to know which individuals have been "cleaned up"
and which haven't.  Just tag everyone in the file with tag 9 (for example).
Then as you are doing other work on a family or line, clean up their source
citations and untag them.  On those rare days when you want some "mindless"
task, you can go through the tagged folks and clean them up.  Or maybe, before
you share a report or export file to a relative, check for those still tagged
and clean them up.  Eventually, they will all be cleaned up.  I had a similar
task when I originally imported from FTM (wow) 10 years ago.  There was a bug
in the software and it loaded all the children with "Natural" or "Biological"
(I forget which) instead of
leaving it blank.  A nightmare, but eventually I finished cleaning those up.
It can be done.

I don't think I would attack this problem from the source side... (source
master, show list, tag, etc.)... you could end up pulling up an individual
several times.

Subject: [LegacyUG] Citing source -- an easy way to clear a real mess???

I cannot believe that I've been using Legacy all these years and did not know
this:

The little icon on the left -- the one with 3 dashes -- that you can use to
enter the source that's on the clipboard  -- I thought it entered the clipboard
source for the name, born, died & buried fields all at one click -- well I just
discovered that when you click that icon it also enters that source for very
single event you have for that person!!!

Mon dieu!! Why does Legacy not warn us that it will do that!!??  I ordinarily
add events from a variety of sources -- and now I have to go thru and take that
citation out -- and God knows how many other individuals I have done that to
over the years!!!

If anybody has any brilliant ideas on the subject I will greatly appreciate
them!!
