Sally, Did you find the problem with the unlinked ancestor? Were they really unlinked or did you just need to re-set relationships to have the relationship show?
I'm not sure how you tagged the "unlinked". Perhaps you searched for those not related? or did you use the View - Trees and tag from there? Was there possibly an unwanted phantom marriage for them? Do they show they have more spouses than they actually do? Look at their spouse list if you don't know how to read this information from the icons on Family View.
