June, Non-blood relationships don't show on the Family View screen (exception - the spouse of a blood relation). This is clearly stated in the Help file on the Help screen from Set Relationships
"*Note*: Non-blood relationship terms are not displayed on the /Family View/. To see these terms you must use the Relationship Calculator <relationship_calculator.htm>." Perhaps you are wanting to see whether people are connected to your main tree or not? You could tag the main tree from the View - Trees Don't forget to Refresh beforehand if you've been to View - Trees before.
