I set up a new daughter named “Daughter for Smith” then add John Smith as her husband. He will show up as the son-in-law of the person you are doing the obit for. When I find out which daughter is married to John Smith, I merge them. I do the same when I have grandkids in an obit and don’t know who their parents are. I add a new person “Grandchildren for Smith” then add the names under that person. When I find out the right set of parents, I attach the correct parents to them.

Perhaps if you go back and reread my original post.
