Hi Pat,
Mike is right.
Use the delete function in the View > Master Lists > Media Folders.
The delete here does not delete the actual folder. It just deletes the
folder from this list.
Also, if it is actually being used, once you click the delete you get an
option to view the list of files in it linked to Legacy.

If you move or copy those files to another folder and then use Tools >
Media Relinker to fix the links, be patient when it finds the images and
check that you are OKing the right file IN THE RIGHT FOLDER.
