Best advice given by Bob Austen. Run check/repair on your 7.5 file and be sure all errors are repaired before moving forward. Then check a few of the key families that you thought were corrupted at version 8. If they are corrupted in 7.5, upgrading to version 8 won't fix that kind of problem. Last, if the 7.5 file is clean, open it in version 8 and have it copied and converted to version 8 leaving the 7.5 file where it is.
Check out the newly converted file, especially the key families that you checked in 7.5. Run a check/repair in version 8. Should be good-to-go now. I have not had any 7.5 databases corrupted by the upgrade. My main file is 253,000 individuals and is working great.
