Hi Marie,

I'm not sure why the update is not loading.

I take it that you now have Legacy 8 now installed on your computer as well
(from the original disk).

Have you entered your customer number so you are now using the Deluxe version?
(Although I don't know if that makes a difference.)

Installing from the Legacy Home tab is not always successful. Try going to
Legacy's web page

http://legacyfamilytree.com

then (on the menu bar) to Download/Download Update and get the latest update
from there. There will be only the one update to install and that will bring
you up to the current build of 8.0.0.454.

When you download the update you may be asked for a password during the
install. You will be emailed the password (probably 'Legacy8').

Hope this works.

Bob

Subject: Re: [LegacyUG] Password for 7.5

My computer crashed and Dell put in a new hard drive and motherboard so I had
to reload everything. I was able to download version 7.5 but I needed a
password to do that. Then I needed my customer number to open the Deluxe
version.

I also purchased the Deluxe version of 8. I could not download it from the
Internet so had to load my original disk. But there have been MANY updates
since it was first offered. I can not get the updates to load. And I've tried
4 times.

As I understand it, the password is just for the purpose of
initializing/completing the "free" download.  If you have purchased the deluxe
version, you will get a customer ID from Legacy.  I just upgraded from version
7 deluxe to version 8 deluxe last night and they emailed me with my new version
8 customer number, which is different than my version 7 customer number.

Hi Marie,

If you are using the deluxe version contact Legacy Support and they will give
you your password, otherwise, as Ron pointed out, Legacy7 should get you
started with the Free version.

Was there a general password to open 7.5?  My desk top crashed and I have to
reload everything. Legacy 7.5 downloaded but it asks for a password which I
thought was "legacy" but it's not.
