Paula I played with making it numeric but as it is used on forms, File maintenance started showing excessive nulls - so I reverted it to Text.
I think as it is used on forms for optional display that the display is compromised in some way. At best only a temporary solution as each update could potentially reset the field back to text. Legacy allows you to search & report, once you've entered it.
