But I DO have an opinion about the best way to provide source info for a photograph; put the source information in the image metadata. Metadata is the data about the data image; the text information that accompanies each image, JPEG or whatever. The metadata allows us to attach everything from our street address to the subject of the photo to the technical info about the photograph … to the source of the photo. I believe any useful information associated with an image has a place somewhere in the metadata. Most modern image processing or image viewing programs allow access to the metadata, yet too few of us use this important feature of digital imaging … myself included. I know I should type the stuff into the appropriate fields but too often I grow bored and move on to more exciting things. Doesn't matter if you follow the approach of Elizabeth Shown Mills or not; just put something in the metadata that will allow someone else to know where you found the image (even if it is from your personal collection of photographs). Bottom line; put sourcing in the metadata no matter what other sourcing you may do !!!
