Probably because "Child status" is not a Gedcom 5.5 standard according to http://homepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~pmcbride/gedcom/55gcch2.htm AND since the data is an attribute of the Child - Family relationship, that same child could have a different "Child Status" where he/she is connected to another family, so if you had it only tied to the individual ...........that wouldnt be possible.
