I don't think you specifically hijacked the thread. It was the person you replied to. People don't understand that every email carries a unique reference number. This is used when you reply to the email so that email readers (as opposed to browsers) can link messages together and so form a thread. This is different to how a browser sees a thread. Browsers are dumb and assume everything with the same Subject line belongs to the same thread. The OP made the original mistake by hitting reply, and then clearing out everything: subject and content. Unfortunately her message still links back to the one she replied to: hence the hijacking. You simply, and inadvertently, compounded the problem by replying to her message thus carrying on the linkage back to the thread which was hijacked. There are always two options when you want to send an email: replying and writing.
