Hi Jean, Good idea to change the subject line but in threaded email it still sorts under the old subject line - next time start a new email rather than using reply.
To answer your query. Answer 1: I'd leave them be where they are - I only run one personal file and it has all sorts of projects in it which I can report on or find and export for a particular short term purpose. Answer 2 You need to tag the people you want to export. How you would search for and tag them depends on how the data has been entered. The easiest may be to use the Master Surname List and tag on the same previously empty tag number all the relevant surnames. Then use the Related flag to remove your family. To do this, first you need to set relationships - probably to yourself is the best option. But choose someone to set relationships to that is related to all the ones you want to keep. Then search for Individuals - tag x [where x is the tag number you chose above] equal to tagged AND Individuals - Relationship not equal to related Tag the results on a new empty tag number. 1. Export the tagged records to a new database File - export to Legacy file just the tagged records OR the tagged records and surrounding family via the checkboxes on the export dialogue. If you use Privacy options, make sure you override them so all private data is transferred to the new file. 2. If you must - use Advanced deleting to delete this tag group 3. Do a File - File Maintenance - Compact Family File 4. Use the Tools - Renumber RINs to compact your RIN numbers unless keeping the same RINs for everyone is really important to you because of your filing system. Afterthought - if you're not used to tagging, you may not have turned tags on. This is done from Options Customise 1.5 Tip on tagging - when using a tag number, even if you think it's just for a temporary purpose, fill in the spot where you can say what the tag represents. There's webinars (or sections of them) on using tags at http://familytreewebinars.com/legacy_videos.php Cathy Jean wrote: > > I am sending this with the correct Subject line. > > *From:*Jean [mailto:[email protected]] > *Sent:* Saturday, July 25, 2015 6:18 PM > *To:* [email protected] > *Subject:* [LegacyUG] RE: Verify your subscription to legacyusergroup > mailing list > > Hello, > > Background: To my family file, I have added the names of Revolutionary > War soldiers of the same surname(s) as one of my ancestors.
