Hi Anne,
Legacy saves your data as you enter it.
On exit you are prompted to Backup any Family File to which you've made
changes in the current session.
You need to backup your data. So don't do away with the prompt.

The backup needs to be made to or transferred to media off your computer.
The easiest way is to use cloud storage like Dropbox, Google Drive or
One Drive. You make a folder for Legacy backups in your cloud storage of
choice and then choose that folder for the backups in Legacy. The
resulting file (a zip file) is then synced to the cloud when you're
online. No messing about with usb drives every time you close Legacy.
