Hi Helen,

In Legacy 8, you can keep your Legacy Family Files wherever you like.
It's a good idea to set Options - Customise - 6.1 to that folder.

However, you cannot shift My Documents\Legacy Family Tree\_AppData. This
is the folder that holds your settings. If you move it, it will be
recreated with defaults the next time you open Legacy and you will have
lost your settings.

Your Legacy Family Files are made up of a series of files of the format
<yourfamilyfile name>.xxx where xxx is a 2 or 3 letter extension. The
data is held in the <yourfamilyfile name>.fdb
Since you have to have the My Documents\Legacy Family Tree\ folder, I'd
put them in the Data folder in that folder unless you have really good
reasons to put them somewhere else.

Use the options at Options - Customise 1.2 to make sure you are opening
the same file each time or keep a sharp eye on the path in the title bar
if you're one of those that have files of the same name scattered across
your computer.

Cathy
