Brian, For web pages, Legacy converts all images to jpeg, when both png and gif, which are the only two formats which support transparency. There really should be an option to stop Legacy doing this since all one can do is the extra work and convert them back.

If those high resolution images are bitmaps, tiff or any format that is not a jpeg legacy has to recode the format to create a jpg copy.
