Thanks, Jack,for this post. I nearly responded to a particularly vitriolic
complaint the other day, but was too angry to write civilly, so I thank you
for you calm and positive response.

I have no problem with people pointing out glitches and suggesting needed
fixes, but would wish that they be described carefully and without arrogant
statements about being superior programmers. My experience with this group
so far is that true code problems are duly noted for patches or next
version. I see no reason to think that Legacy's programmers are not
competent professionals.

As Jack said, learning to use the software well is my aim in reading this
group. The software does what I need it to do and in an easy to use format
with lots of learning and tech support. I can forgive the minor glitches
that are inherent in using complex software.  And I find fast and effective
help using this forum.

Let's assume everyone is doing their best work given the time and resources
they have to work with. Let's accept that Legacy users run the gamut from
newbies to experienced database users and genealogists and help us each
move forward in our skills.
