Hello Dick

I came very close to switching to FTM because of the citation issue you
raise.

FTM handles citations in a sensible fashion. After all, in the real
world one often uses a citation to support many facts. I believe the
handling of citations was an error in the original design of Legacy
software and database.

I don't accept for one moment that Legacy could not be modified to
handle linking of citiations. I suspect that Legacy have concluded that
it would take too much effort. The database structure would need to be
modified as would the user interface in many places.

It is interesting that it took an ex-FTM user to raise this issue. I
suspect that most Legacy users have never used any other software and
have simply got used to the way Legacy works and have found ways
(fudges, tricks) to get around the citation issue. Maybe the demise of
FTM will encourage Legacy to fix the problem.

Cheers,
Eddy from Tasmania.
