Thanks Sherry. I have a chromebook, an android phone, and a desktop PC. There
is another possibility for some people who have something like I have. There is
Chrome Remote Desktop. This will allow you to remotely access your computer,
with Chrome or Android. This works very well, but if someone else is using the
PC, they will have to agree to give it up so you can access your files. So it's
not a perfect solution, but it works with an internet connection. So if you're
at a family search center, you will be able to access Legacy that resides on
your PC. It is also secure because you give it a pin number with a minimum of 6
numerals.

Those who offer web space, such as Ancestry and other "tree" pages,
have definite problems, mainly the lack of flexibility you get with
desktop programs. Searches, reports, sorts, etc are quite limited.
And.... when you decide you need something that's more "powerful", the
gedcoms created from those websites are not very good. We've seen some
horrendous issues with them - we deal with them most every day.
A good desktop program with storage of your data on a cloud service
such as Dropbox works great. If you have a laptop (and most people
have desktop and laptop these days) you can install Legacy on both
computers (yes, you can use your customer number to unlock the Deluxe
features on more than one computer), or other mobile device and use
with Families 2.0, you can work on your data anywhere! You don't even
need an internet connection, which you would need if you're working
with a cloud based program. Just work on the file that's in Dropbox
on the computer you're using and then when you get connected, it'll
automatically sync to the web and back to your other computer.
Families 2.0 uses a sync program on the desktop to convert the Legacy
file to an iOS or Android format and then you can convert it back to
your Legacy file.
