Mary Lou,

You are not clear whether you were using FTM or Legacy when you entered this particular source.

Are you saying you only have one Master Source for Newspapers?

You need to go to the Master Source list and find this source and edit it as it appears to have this particular source detail in the Master Source.

If that's the case, this one edit will remove this detail for everyone but you may have to check everyone using the source to see whether they also have the correct source detail.

In the Master Source List you can get a list of everyone using a Master Source by highlighting it and clicking Show List.

If you decide it would be easier to delete the Source and all the citations using it and start your newspaper sourcing again, you can do this. In the Master Source list you highlight the source and then click Options - Delete Master Source. You get a dialogue saying the Master Source is being used, would you like to see who is using it. You opt to see the list of people and that next screen has a button on it - Delete anyway.

It may be more complex than this as you may find you have a lot of Master Sources for Newspapers. If so you'll need to do a Source Citation Report to sort them out. You can do that for tagged sources only so you can tag the likely sources in the Master Source list. You do that individually by clicking in the tag checkbox next to the source. In the Options you can clear all Master Source tags at once but you can't set a tag for a selected group.

I have notes on Sourcing and specifically on cleaning up a Master Source list that I wrote for the Perth User Group. I've also put them in the Files area of the Facebook Legacy User Group or I could email them to you direct if you're interested.

Hope that helps you sort it out,
Cathy

When I choose the Master Source of Newspaper every one automatically

Title— The New Castle Courier, New Castle, Indiana, USA

Mrs. Luellen of near Rogersville buried on last Saturday at the
Rogersville cemetery., I think her burial date would be December 13,
1884 and this was Abigail Jones daughter of Benjamin & Elizabeth)

I only need that fact for one person and it has been entered into each
and every time I choose Newspaper. I now have it in hundreds of
various people as their (incorrect) source. How do I get out of this
problem?

1. Is there a way to Search and Replaceall of them at once?

2.Is there a way to stop having this continue?

3.I am guessing since I entered it in 2011, this started when I moved
my information from Family Treemaker to Legacy? We used a GED to do this.

I love Legacy and feel Sourcing is important but should be explained
in the language of those of us who are not computer programmers or as
knowledgeable as perhaps we should be.This has really become a major
and frustrating issue in my tree. Thank you so very much! Mary Lou
