This is just so incorrect! WikiTree NEVER asks you to pay for ANYTHING.
The only way I can think of is if somebody has quoted Ancestry as a
source, and left a link which goes to a record behind a paywall. That's
ANCESTRY'S paywall, not WikiTree's! It's ANCESTRY asking for money, not
WikiTree!
*Please* let me know where you think you have been asked to pay on WT.

I've encountered the same thing with MyHeritage. It is free to join, but
when I wanted to search, I had to pay. They also want you to upload your
tree -- for free-- and then you pay to access it! They also will give it
to other paying members -- profiting from your work! This is not fair,
in my mind.
At least, wth Legacy, it is free to download, and free to use and you
only have to pay if you want some of the special features, like charts
or some reports. That is not a bad deal at all. (I am a mostly satisfied
customer, and am not compensated for this statement)
