Not only do you have to deal with the family changing the names, some names were spelled differently handwritten and in print. In my family, Faelchle was used when typed, Fälchle was the handwritten form. The surnames are used interchangeably. Of course, it anglicized into Felchle. Same with Weingärtner / Weingaertner.
