I've noticed this behavior for several months now but just got around to really testing it today. The problem occurs when you are editing an event and paste in a replacement event from the clipboard. This pasting in of a replacement event could be accidental if you happen to click on the Paste from Clipboard button (careless mouse click?) or perhaps on purpose but then discover that you have the wrong event on the clipboard.
Once you recognize that the replacement event is not what you wanted, you click on the CANCEL button and not the SAVE button and that will close the Edit Event window. But if you look at the list of events on the Individual's Information window, you will discover that the wrong event remains and what was originally there is now gone forever. Remember, you did not click on SAVE but rather CANCEL yet it had no effect. I was actually updating some Census events that had addition information and I find it easy to merely copy the updated event to the clipboard and then edit any family members in that census using the updated event on the clipboard. Once in a while, I forget to actually copy the updated event to the clipboard and I end up pasting in a previous clipboard event from a totally different family. Even clicking on CANCEL on the Edit Event window and then CANCEL on the Individual's Information window still keeps the incorrect information. Can anyone else confirm this behavior? WARNING - Do not try to duplicate this bug on your family file because you will probably lose data. Try it on a test file. Brian in CA
