Ian,
Are you talking about the Map? It's Bing maps that Legacy is using. Legacy has little control how Bing maps stuff.

When it gets it really wrong, click the Geo Code button at the top of the screen and choose Don't auto geo-code. (if you're going to use another location to get close to the right spot) Then go to the right place on the map and Right click after you've made sure the right location is highlighted.

(Location list)

I have a number of people from Jersey, Guernsey etc and I have been
entering them as (one example) St Clement, Jersey, Channel Islands .

Leaving aside St / Saint and Islands / Isles, Legacy v8 shows their
location off California USA – and I am not sure how to “make” the
program recognize the one off England and France.

I tried Channel Isles, United Kingdom but the Location list shows a
patch of blue W of Huntington Beach, CA.

Similarly, Jersey, Channel Islands gives me Jersey City, just W of New
York, USA

It’s a great feature (no irony) of Legacy and in general I find it
extremely useful in the UK and Ireland.
