Thank you Bob. No, the file must be in GEDCOM format. The file I am seeking to create needs to be only a couple of families (no particular families), yet representative of a GEDCOM file that can be transferred from Legacy 8. I was not expecting the problems with urls and links to graphics.

Do the other families have Windows computers? If so, you can send them the free version of Legacy and a Legacy backup file - that way everything will be in place at their end. In fact, I think Legacy has a "create CD" option that pretty much does this. You could probably use either a CD or a USB key??? I think it includes a link to Legacy download site so they get the most current version - so if they do not have internet access you may need to manually copy the Legacy install to the CD??? (Its been a LONG time since I've messed with this, so I could be wrong.) And, no, you do not need to send them your entire Legacy file. You can use tags and such to create a separate Legacy file with just the folks they want to see, and then use that separate Legacy file to create the CD/USB.
