Ian mentioned TextPad. I use that daily and have for about twenty years. It is open all day with multiple types of documents. Handles multiple formats, including UTF options, it has a powerful Regex search/replace tool. Note, I am still using their last DOS Version 4. 7, still working on Win 10, 64 bit. An excellent choice for an editing tool. Can use it to edit GEDCOM files quickly. Again, good luck
