Hi Cathy,

Thanks for the suggestions – unfortunately it’s not a case of change any Circa
etc dates to Abt because they’re all Abt anyway.

The exactly same dates – Abt birth and Abt death appear differently depending
on whether the couple are the son and daughter-in-law and the exactly same
couple are shown as Husband and Wife in the Family Group Report! I’ve
eliminated all the various versions for the dates and prefixes which is why I
wondered if I’d found a bug or missed a setting!

Regards … Susie Z

Susie,

The display option in 5.7 has some relationship to what is used in Reports but
it isn't exact, especially in the bracketed dates.

I suggest you change the display for Circa back to Circa or something and then
find those dates and change them to Abt if that's what you want.

You can use Search - Search and Replace on various Date fields to make this a
fast process. Just make sure you're only replacing the found text and not the
whole field.

Hi Folks,

Is this a bug or have I missed a setting somewhere for Date Prefixes - I
have this set in Customise 5.7 - Prefixes

If I type About / Abt / A it is to display as Abt
If I type Circa / Cir / C it is to display as Abt

In the Family Group Sheet - this prefix displays correctly UNLESS it is in
bracket s which are automatically used for date ranges for Father, Mother and
Spouse.

Example - Son James has Born Abt 1856, Died Abt 1905 BUT Spouse Elizabeth
(Cir 1859 - Cir 1909)

If I look at the son and daughter-in-law they both display dates with Abt
and not Circ

If I change the family to be the son and daughter-in-law as the main people,
both Husband and Wife appear with the correct prefixes of Abt for both born
and died BUT their parents Father and Mother have dates in brackets showing
(Circ 1834 - Cr 1905)

In Australia when getting BDM Registrations from the indexes I always use
Abt unless I have actual dates. This is because a birth could have been
registered at the beginning of a year but the actual event could have
occurred at the end of the previous year - until I have the real dates they
have to be Abt because they could have been either year - hope that makes
sense.

So why is the information appearing in brackets as part of the standard
Family Group Report showing as Cir and not Abt?
