Subject: Re: [LegacyUG] Pictures attached to Vital Info (BMD)
Hi Kris,
I think I can figure out that BMD stands for Birth, Marriage and Death, but I'm
scratching my head over TNG. What is it?
Since I would some day like to upload a gedcom or have my own family tree
website (thanks John for the GedSite site), I'm interested in knowing what is
the best way for me to have all media for each person be available for
uploading. Currently, I use the Media Gallery and attach documents or pictures
to Events as well.
Thanks everyone! I learn so much from these emails.

Hi, Brian!
Thanks for asking this question. I don't use the BMD options for exactly this
reason -- as attachments go, it really is a black hole. It would be great to
be able to compartmentalize the documents and photos for these "events" rather
than just plop them in the individual's general photo area. However, since
Legacy reports only use the preferred photo, that isn't really the best
solution, either.
I use TNG for my website, and it does show all the public attachments (from the
individual's photo area), so often I end up checking my website to view these
things. :-D
I'd love to hear about work-arounds that others have come up with for reports.

Just wondering if after all this time, new versions, updates, and
ideas/work-arounds from other users if anybody has figured out an easy way
to make BMD pictures show up on Legacy generated reports, i.e., any of the
web reports? Or does it continue to be a black hole for any pictures
attached to these birth, marriage, or death records?

(I mentioned an "easy" way to make the pictures appear. I know it is
possible to have a user-created Event called "Birth" / "Birth Pictures" or
something similar along those lines and then attach the images there but
that seems such a drastic measure considering the programmers already
created such a built-in event. It's just that pictures attached to those
built-in events are forever held internally in the database never to see the
light of day unless viewed within the Legacy program.)
