TIP OF THE DAY (Legacy Staff) - Fun with Hashtags

(Legacy 9)

Background information - My uncle took a yDNA test at 111 markers. He has
two matches and they both match him at 110 markers and they match each other
at 111. All three lines end in a brick wall and we are yet to find the
connection. I have inputted both of these additional lines into Legacy and
have started doing research on them. My goal is to figure out where the
three lines intersect.

I want to use Hashtags to indicate all of the direct line male ancestors of
all three lines (each line gets its own Hashtag). I started with my line. My
brick wall ancestor is James Simmons born 14 Aug 1764. I went to SEARCH >
FIND > MISC. I created a Focus Group of James' descendants and then sent
that to a Search List. I then changed over to the Detailed Search tab. My
criteria was

Male > Surname > Equal to > Simmons

"Only search the Search List" (this part is important)

I have 217 people on my Search List. They are all of James' direct line male
descendants. Next I went to OPTIONS > ADD HASHTAG TO EVERYONE IN LIST. The
name of my Hashtag is

Simmons Group - James Simmons Descendants (the desciption field has "yDNA
match - TEST TAKER'S NAME" )

I then did the same thing with the other two lines.

Simmons Group - William Simmons Descendants (yDNA match - TEST TAKER'S NAME)

Simmons Group - William Simmons Descendants (yDNA match - TEST TAKER'S NAME)

(two different Williams)

I have several other Simmons Groups

Simmons Group - Silver Creek Simmons

Simmons Group - Balo Chitto Simmons

Simmons Group - Natchez Simmons

Simmons Group - Perry County

Simmons Group - 10&20 Consolidated LA Militia War of 1812

Simmons Group - 13th Regiment MS Militia War of 1812

The ultimate goal is to find overlap especially since I have quite a few
Simmons' floating around in my file as unlinked.
