Cathy,

Thanks

There doesn’t seem to be any way around this at present.

I have followed the instructions from the Legacy help file which is quite good
and provides a part solution.

But you should be able to go to either the birth family file or the adoptees
family file and see both entries as they have changed,

Obviously there will be notes as well for explanation.

Regards

Allan,

normally you enter the birth name and put other names in AKAs and also add
notes or an event to document the change of name.
When children are adopted as babes, some use the adopted name as the main name
but still have an AKA (in this case for the birth name) and the notes or event
to make sure it is clear.

There may be better ways to handle this and if you can think of how, send in a
suggestion. See the Legacy Home tab or the Help Ribbon tab for the link to do
this.

I have and adoption to enter into legacy.

I know the birth mother but not the father.

I know the adoptees parents.

Have entered both sets of parents into legacy.

However, the child s middle name and family name was changed when he
was adopted out.

Legacy doesn’t seem t o handle the change of name from the birth name
to the adopted name.

How can I resolve this other than by starting another line from the
adoptees parents.
