I'm not sure what you mean by the Ancestry icon. Found it - yes it seems
to work for me.
However, if I want to initiate a search from within Legacy I go to
Internet - Search Internet and choose Ancestry from the drop down list.
That will search for the current person on Ancestry and allows you to
adjust the search terms.
