Hi,

If available, I add a picture and one or more internet website links (not only
from, for instance, FamilySearch but from whatever website I find information
about the person and/or any place) to the media gallery of the individual and
to the media gallery in the master location list.

And to tackle the potential problem you referred to, I also copy/paste the
content of the added internet webpage as a story in the Story section of that
individual. As of yesterday - acting on a suggestion of Cathy Pinner (thank you
Cathy) - I also copy/paste the URL into Notes, albeit without any additional
characters surrounding the copied link, resulting in, for example,
http://legacyfamilytree.com just as it is. This is translated by TCGR into a
valid and workable link! (How good is TCGR….). By the way, trying to highlight
the link with the “highlight text” tool in the resulting PDF spoils the link:
it then does not work anymore. I do not require a working link in Legacy notes
(only in a print, such as one created by TCGR) as I already have the same
working link in Legacy in the Media Gallery.

I still would like to see if TCGR will be able, in a future update, to just
incorporate the URL links in the various media galleries in the output, as now
copying the url’s into the notes is a hell of a job and actually bypasses the
useability of the media galleries.

By the way: A PDF created in TCGR becomes really workable, interesting and fun
if you do not just create a PDF File (selectable in Report Type) but a PDF File
with hyperlinks. Next to explore is to create a report type “HTML folder with
frames”.

Cheers,
Henk.

Interesting subject.
I also use TCGR to create reports but so far, I 've just created PDF and I have
thought about including internet links but I’ve not done it yet.
One reason is that I have a poor experience of how permanent a URL is. It can
be changed or removed and by now, FamilySearch requires a login, which
significantly limits the availability.
I have so far downloaded pictures and linked them to my database with reference
to the source.
But, I now have more than 1000 pictures and especially my backup become very
big, I'm also considering incorporating movies and audio which does not
improve the case.
One solution could be to upload the movies to my private cloud (Onedrive) and
link them to Legacy
Some other ideas?

Henk

If you put them in notes it will work.

To use the ones from the Media Gallery needs a programming change which is why
I said to send in the suggestion as I can't check at the moment to see if it's
there.
