In some output, like the Book Reports, you can choose to include either all preferred pictures (the ones in a Gallery with an asterisk) or only tagged or untagged preferred media.

All media you add is tagged by default. The tag is the tick in the checkbox associated with each item in a Media Gallery.

If you go to View - Scrapbook OR Reports - Other Reports - Scrapbook you can choose to use only tagged media in either the Media list you can print or the scrapbook.

The controls could be better but I find it useful to be able to add say a census image to an event but untag it so that it isn't included in a Report where it would be too small to read anyway. It's just there for convenient access.

Can someone explain this:

I select a person with pictures, choose the media icon and get several
buttons:
*Add Media…, Edit…, Options…, Help and Close. *

Under the Options I can choose between the following:
*“Tag all pictures” *or *“Untag all pictures.*

And the *Help > Media Gallery explains it as follows:*

*Tagging and Untagging All Media
You can quickly tag or untag all the media in the gallery by
clicking the Options button and then choosing Tag all pictures or
Untag all pictures.*

I have been looking for a way to tag individual pictures and then be
able to list these, but I have not found anything about this, not even
with Access in the media table
