Ian

Your message is confusing.
In Split Screen, do you have the same file open on both sides but just looking at a different view or person on both sides OR do you have a different file open on the second side which just happens to be a duplicate or older copy of your current file?  I think you mean the second.

When you have different files open, then you can copy a person from database to database but not part of their data except by using Windows copy and paste. You could copy over the person, then copy the event you want and then delete the person you copied over instead of merging them.

Hi, I'm new here but I've been using Legacy since V7.

I'm wondering why an event can be shared between people with different
RIN numbers, but not between 2 records with identical RIN's in
different dbases.

I'm using split screen and have two versions of the same family file
open. I wish to be able to copy an event in file #2 (RIN #1) to the
same person (RIN #1) in file 1.

TIA
