I’m sure the Legacy Help file has a succinct explanation of how to find how to handle this common occurrence – but I haven’t yet found it.
I have a person born ‘out of wedlock’ – his registered name and mother in a BDM Index - who subsequently adopted a last name (which happens to be one of his given names), married and had a family, and died and was registered in the same state BDM Index with the ‘adopted’ name. His birth was around 1900, death 1950 and I haven’t searched for official/legal evidence of this change of name. Apart from knowing how to handle his “most commonly-used name” in Legacy FT software, perhaps someone could point me to where that explanation is within the Help file?
