In older times, engagement photos were quite common but finding them among family heirlooms may not happen. Into more modern time, newspapers often published engagement notices with photos. >From your post I get the impression that there might be some interesting story or facts surrounding the marriage ring and/or proposal in question. If so, I would create an event called Marriage Proposal, write the full story in MS Word (or your favorite word processor), then attach the document to the Marriage Proposal event.
