I received this request as a private email after I replied to a question on the list about registering for a Legacy Cloud account. I am sending my reply to the list so everyone can read my response.

Barry,

I don't work for the company so why would you think I have any knowledge on what they do?

Having said that MyHeritage/Legacy FamilyTree are providing a free service where you can store a backup copy of your data file. I see no reason why they would be interested in spending company resources on extracting data from the thousands of backups stored on their servers. They have more than enough MyHeritage account subscribers who maintain their trees at MyHeritage and have agreed to whatever sharing of that data is allowed by the terms of the MyHeritage accounts.

Hi Brian. I have a question about the Legacy Cloud being run by MyHeritage. Are they allowed to access and use my data or does the data remain under my control? I'm sure others are wondering too. The relationship is not clear to me. Tks- Barry Huntsinger
