Ian,

As Brian says, this is a known bug.
There is another bug in the Name List but the solution to both the bug in the Index updating and the bug of the Name list not opening on the right person is worked around by either choosing to show both AKAs and Married Names or to show neither.

There is a known problem with the update of the Index view when the option to include married names is on. If you have that option turned on in your Index view try turning it off.

Does anyone else see this problem with Legacy?

I suspect that this is due to a disk caching problem on my system, but it may also involve Legacy Family Tree. Maybe Legacy does not refresh its (MS Access) indexes often enough?

In my database, I have what I regard as a large file (13,500) though I see that some people have nearly half a million!

When I add a new person (either related to another, or using Add , as a new, unrelated person) and then move to another in the database, I sometimes want to return to the “added” person.

My method is to switch from Family view to Index view, and type in the Surname.

But more often than not, the “newly-added” person is not visible / not found.

To find that person again, I need to either go to the maximum RIN, or type in the person’s Given Name(s), (comma), Surname.

This has been the norm for over 6 months. And I use Legacy often.

I suspect it is a problem with data caching on the “hybrid” disk I have as C: and which is host to Legacy program and data. The Seagate disk is a SHDD (a standard magnetic HDD with a solid state cache). I also see a similar problem with file appearance/updating in Windows File Explorer (ie, an open folder view).

(Windows 10, 64-bit, v1903 latest etc.)

It is only a minor annoyance, and the work-around works OK for me.
