Now I have the " Higginsonodds - 1020 people " file and I would like to REMOVE all those connected to SHERRARD -[1007] and add them to my " Adrian's gedcom with my additions " I will backup " Higginsonodds - 1020 people " first

It was dated a while before you posted this question and it was in a thread named Hints- only getting FMP which you hijacked to post about changing a gedcom to a legacy file. In Legacy use File > Import and select GEDCOM as the kind of file to import. You will be given the opportunity to give the file a name during the import so there is no need to open a new Legacy file first. Legacy will create the new file for you.
