Have you added the coordinates to the location you have entered? If
you've mapped it, all should be well. the Distance Calculators use the
coordinates, not the names you've used for the location.
Here's how to add coordinates in Legacy 10.
Either from the Master Location list when you Edit a location or from
the Geo Location database you can access Google maps.
In the Master Location list highlight a location and click Edit, then
the Map icon. When the place is found in Google maps you right click on
the map then click on the coordinates at the top of the right click menu
which copies them to the Windows clipboard then past them in the
latitude box in the Edit location in Legacy. It auto puts both
coordinates in the right boxes.
If the location already has coordinates entered, the map icon takes you
to that place on the map.
Once in Google maps you can save locations and label them. You can
create your own special collection of places on a map if you click the
Saved icon and then the Maps tab. It will take you to Google My Maps.
There are YouTube videos explaining how to use Google My Maps if you
don't know. You can link photos etc to a pin on the map and share the
map with others.
You can also copy and paste coordinates in various formats from other
places. Legacy will auto convert them to the format it saves coordinates in.

I know a person was born at home, on the farm;
and I know the location of that farm (township, range, section, etc);
and I have been entering the place of birth as township name, county,
state, country, and within the notes section I add specifics of the
T/R/Sec/data. Most county vital record books are set up using the
Township for locales.
But, that doesn't work when verifying locations and to be able to use
the mapping features, the distance calculators tools, etc. that Legacy
provides.
I really don't want to use the nearest town as the location; nor do I
like using "near" or "southeast" as that is also inaccurate or too vague.
I came across this issue when playing around with the FAN Club report
and it doesn't pickup my township names for friends and neighbors. I
get the lovely little note that my locations need to be verified
Any suggestions?
