Hi Cliff

Because Gedcome import doesn't work in Legacy from all other programs,
not using the proper Gedcome standard, and it's a short-cut to get an
overview of a family file. As mentioned earlier I prefer to use farm
names
as surname, not the patronymic, and that way it's is easy in a short
download session to have an look at a file, deciding if it is of any
interest.
But it isn't a substitute to a gedcome import to work with.
