I don't know where this item of information came from, but when saving
anything from a newspaper always cut out the masthead at the top of the
page, and the date information to file with the clipping. This was the way
I was taught somewhere along the way.

To be complete, the name and date of the newspaper in which the obit was
published should be included. This has caused me some grief, as I have some
obits from the past which were carefully clipped and saved, with no clue
about the source of the clipping, and no date. A good idea is to save the
entire page of the paper, or at least enough of it to identify the paper &
date. Virginia.
