Just a couple of comments on the accuracy of records, and the accuracy of
record recorders, including priests.

We should never accept a record as correct until we find at least a second
one from another source that agrees. My wife has one female ancestor whose
age varied about plus or minus 10 years from one census to the next. Of
course, we do not know who provided her age to the census taker, of if it
was refused, and the census taker guessed.

I suspect that the accuracy of priests or other recorders depended on a
great many things, including their personality, how busy they were at the
moment, whether they had a pen and ink available, how hot or cold it was
where they made their records, etc.

So, a sincere thanks for anyone who recorded genealogy or family history
info for us to use today! My wife has found great records, at least they
appear that way so far, kept by the priests in Quebec.

And this is a topic of importance to Legacy users. No genealogy program can
guarantee the accuracy of the data we enter, although Legacy does have some
"tools" that help.
