To all those who used to use FTM but converted to Legacy:

We need your help. This is a survey to find out why you converted to Legacy
from Family Tree Maker. Please send your comments directly to

What was appealing in Legacy that convinced you to change?
The source clipboard and the useful examples provided on the site
Why did you change from FTM to Legacy?
There seemed to be more options, though I haven't used most of them. Also
the constant linking to online searches and bring up thousands of irrelevant
names. eg my name, birth and marriage date and husband's info are exact, I
got reams of different middle names and found marriage links to 1800's in
Texas or elsewhere. Also so many useless CD's and knowing that if I
contribute to the World Tree or whatever, people will be charged for my
information. (which didn't stop me from getting their subscriptions,
however!!)
What are some of your favorite features about Legacy compared to FTM?
Source clipboard and split screen drag and drop also name list options to
the right of the list and tagging,(and on and on and on). Also your
technical support and Users group.
What do you wish Legacy had that FTM has?
I have User ID#'s A-00001, B-00001 etc. I can't seem to find a way to sort
let alone print a list in order A-00032, A-00001, A-00056 which makes it
difficult to keep track of my numbers, which are now getting into the
hundreds. My solution is to export to FTM and use print preview to clean up
the list and then print it out.
I love the program, I tried PAF too but have settled on Legacy.
Thank you for your help,
