Hugh, Thank you for clarifying that you do advocate recording sources. Here are some
brief responses to consider.

Hugh: I see there is some misconception about my thoughts on sources. I faithfully
record my sources; I just don't share them with but one person.
Larry: Our history research has similarities to medical research for finding the major
causes of death. Medical researchers believe that truth and facts are found more
quickly
in a collaborative effort. They publish their findings and give their sources of
proof in
medical journal articles and presentations at regular conventions of the profession.
If
there are conflicts in findings, they are found more quickly by group exposure. A
finding
by one stimulates more progress by another, and everyone in the search is energized
with
more enjoyment in the effort and discussion and the work is advanced more quickly for
the
benefit of all. Many of attend Genealogy classes, and Legacy User Group meetings to
learn
from others and progress faster with more skill.
Each time you find data on your family, ask yourself "How would I have found
this
important data if the author had my attitude of not wanting to share findings and
sources
with other descendants of these same ancestors?"
