The link is: http://www.mit.edu:8001/geo This is pretty much a search engine: Following is copy of the page: Enter the name of the place you want to look up For example, enter "cambridge, ma" to look up Cambridge, Massachusetts. If you enter just "cambridge", you will get information on all towns called Cambridge. This server contains mostly information on locations within the US. It uses the information from the geographic nameserver database formerly on martini.eecs.umich.edu. Much of the data is not current. A more up-to-date Geographic Nameserver can be found at: http://mapping.usgs.gov/www/gnis/gnisform.html If you are looking for listings by city or zip code information, you could also try: http://www.census.gov/cgi-bin/gazetteer/ Placename: -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Ken McGinnis Sent: August 7, 2001 11:01 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [LegacyUG] Legacy 4.0 wish list The link www.mit.edu:8001/geo you provided doesn't work. Do you have a good link. Do they have a listing for every city in the US and the dates for when it was in each county as counties change. We need the data to show a city and then the starting date and ending date for each county it was located in over time. There are a whole bunch of cities that have never moved but have been in several counties over time and this is the information we need.
