The topic has been hinted at a couple of times recently, and I thought I'd share with you how I record conflicting information. My 4th great-grandfather, Asa C. Brown, was born 11 Oct 1792 in Woodstock, Windham, Connecticut. This is proven and is correct. However, I have also found references to him being born in Massachusetts, Vermont, and Kentucky. In his events list, the first three events were: - Alt Birth: abt 1792 in Massachusetts - Alt Birth: abt 1793 in Vermont - Alt Birth: abt 1794 in Kentucky Of course each event is sourced. Once I disprove these alternate birth places, I change the event name to: - Disproven Birth: abt 1792 in Massachusetts - Disproven Birth: abt 1793 in Vermont - Disproven Birth: abt 1794 in Kentucky In the notes section of these disproven birth events, I describe why I have disproven them. You can do the same with christenings, deaths, burials, or any event that would fit. I keep all of these events intact just in case someone else says, "you're wrong. He was born abt 1792 in Massachusetts." I can then show them that I found that source too, but due to such and such, it is incorrect. Just some thoughts... Thanks, Geoffrey D.
