You people are right!!! But shutting it down and restarting should not
be the answer!! It should be right to start with!!!

Doing a fix and repair will really get you in trouble also then you
will come up with the CAN NOT FIND ?? RIN ?. error 3022 and can not
add to it any more!!

It needs fixing not a patch or a reload!!

Gene

Also in Netscape the "Get

I've also had trouble running Legacy at the same time as Netscape and
had the same errors you
mentioned, Gill. I've also found that Family Tree Maker will "pout" if
I use it at the same time
as Legacy and that GEDCOMs created as a Legacy-made file or GEDCOM 5.5
cause my FTM to shut down
automatically. I sometimes think FTM is jealous because I'm not using
it as much lately. :-)

I've noticed that I get *massive* errors if I try using the DOS-based
program County Finder II
(which locates towns/cities in the US and tells you the
county/parish/borough and state where
they're located) while I'm in Legacy - mainly when loading the Name List
or trying to open
different database files. Using County Finder II at the same time as
Legacy caused in Legacy
almost every Run Time error listed in the Troubleshooting Guide and even
one that gave the pop up
window saying "Hmmm. It appears an error has happened that we didn't
expect. It is error number
360 and happened at NameList_Form_Load-0..." etc. File Repair only made
the errors worse. I did
have a few scary moments (all right, I panicked!) when Legacy told me
all my databases were
unopenable and I'd thought I'd lost 20+ hours of data entry and
customizing of my notes because I
couldn't even get a useable GEDCOM out of the program. I finally did a
complete
uninstall/reinstall as well as a thorough ScanDisk on my harddrive to
repair all the errors and a
reboot of my computer. Everything is working much better now and I'm
not noticing any actual
damage to the data now that I can open the databases and use them.

I guess the moral of the story is to run only the one application at a
time if you want to have
Legacy open and to definitely *not* try using County Finder II at the
same time as any other
Windows-based application. I suspect there must have been a conflict
of some sort, but I'm not a
programmer so I really don't know what the true causes are for the
troubles. I'm going to see how
well it goes with using just one program at a time and if that has any
effect on the number of
errors I've been receiving.

And if anyone knows of a Windows-based program such as County Finder II,
please let me know so I
could try that instead of the DOS-based program.

HTH.

Cheers,
