> Father's patronym = Nielsen > > Mother's patronym = Olufsdatter > > Kids' given the name, KJR > Kjr isn't a patronymic. It is a usual family name taken either from a farm or a village name. As in Norway in Denmark nobility and higher social levels of the population, priest and judges, took family names. People who moved to "town" and took citizenship, the official permission for merchant ship and trade, also other occupations, took family names. So I assume as a conclusion without knowing: They moved to town sometime during the mid 1800, having an usual occupation, and Kjr had been one of the last locations they lived. http://www.dis-danmark.dk/ http://www.ide-as.com/fndb/howto.html The firs link is the the organization : Computer in ancestral research in Denmark.
