Legacy Users Group Etiquette 1. Please keep the tone of messages friendly and helpful. Practice tolerance, avoid sarcasm and remember that we were all beginners at one time. 2. Please wait before sending a flame (a personal attack). Cool off before responding. If still angry in two hours, send a reply directly to the sender, not to the group. NOTE: Flamers will be removed from the Users Group without warning. Persons sending obscene messages; profanity or other inappropriate language; hate mail; threats; forwarding chain mail or sending Spam will also be removed from the Users Group without warning and may also find themselves reported to their Internet Service Provider. 3. Please keep to the topic of Legacy and its add-on programs. Please don't send jokes, advertisements, political messages, religious opinion, etc. 4. Please make sure the Subject line is filled in and reflects purpose of your message. 5. Please send messages in plain text form. People with visual impairments may find messages with colored text and backgrounds difficult to read. Other recipients may get messages filled with HTML code. In addition, viruses can't hide in plain text messages like they do in HTML or RTF messages. Please see http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/help/html-off.html for help in turning off HTML and RTF in messages. 6. Please don't send attachments of any kind. 7. Scan your computer for viruses regularly and keep your anti-viral software updated. 8. Please do not send "digitally signed" messages. Don't require replies to messages sent to the Legacy Users Group. Please unsubscribe if you are going away and will be using an e-mail AutoResponder. 9. Please only include relevant return text when replying. 10. Please use the spell checker and proof read. 11. Please keep your messages brief and to the point. 12. Please know how to unsubscribe yourself at http://www.legacyfamilytree.com/LegacyLists.asp. 13. Please don't respond to messages from people asking to be unsubscribed. Let the News Group administrator do that. 14. Due to the high volume of Users Group messages, there is no need to send "Thank you" responses that have no other significant content.
